DIGITAL ENCODERS & ANALOG ENCODERS |
Digital encoders |
The DIGITAL ENCODERS allow for resolutions
up to 4x their nominal resolution: ex 180LPI ( lines per inch
) can be decoded as 720LPI, because the encoder generates 4
transitions per cycle using both photocells ( also called channels
A and B ). One can interpolate in between transitions, provided
the relative movement speed is kept and known to be constant. |
Analog encoders |
ANALOG ENCODERS allow for higher resolutions as the analog output of both channels
defines any Intermediate position. |
